Zend Framework with Recurring Billing Payment Gateway Integration For Membership Site

While we have developed a school management system using Kohana Framework in the past this was our first project in Zend. Given the tough deadlines our team did rather well, I must say.

Here is the brief on the Zend Framework project which we completed recently.

The application is meant for a US Mail Forwarding Service(clients/members are provided with a US mailbox address and the items received at this address are forwarded to their address anywhere in the world) provider and they wanted an application built to manage their membership/subscription and importantly tracking,billing and invoicing of mails received on behalf of members. Authorize.net is the payment
gateway integrated into the system for handling subscription/recurring billing and for adhoc receipt of shipment payments.

A three member team spent 45 days developing the application. Following are the salient features/functions that were implemented

Administration Module Features

Options to view and mange new registrations, separate option for user approval
Options to view and manage new orders by users
Option to add new shipments to a users inbox
Option to view the inbox of each of the users
Option to view details of all of the users, also their inbox separately
Fully integrated with payment gateway(Credit Card Processing) Authorize.net to handle monthly recurring billing membership payments and also for receiving adhoc payments.
Single button mail alerts for payment failures

Payment failures may be of two types

While registration

Admin can send a mail, which contains a link, following that link user can completes his payment and hence registration

While shipment processing

Admin can send a mail which contains a link, following that link user can completes his payment and hence the order processing

Automatic Email alerts

Contents of the mails are automatically filled, admin needs to select the suite id ( User name) and the Box ID( in case of shipments)

Automate Magento Shopping Cart – Product Import Script

A script for automating product feed import into a Magento shop has been developed recently. Following were the requirements

  • Download and process .txt files from another server(merchant) via FTP. Only latest files have to be picked up via FTP. The files will have a date suffix to help the FTP script to identify which ones are latest.
  • The products have to be assigned to the right categories and sub-categories
  • New products have to be added and existing products have to be updated.

As the .txt files from merchant were not clean we script had to take care of the tidying up aspect as well. The script is in PHP and is scheduled to execute via cron.
