Customize Magento Checkout for Configurable Product Like PCs Laptops PCBs

One of our clients selling configurable PCB’s required a custom checkout added to their Magento Shopping Cart. Following were the requirements

–Form with three configuration options  – Basic,Select, Express

–Depending on the configuration option chosen – different components are offered.

–Admin module to control the components under configuration option

–Technology to be used – PHP,AJAX,JS

–Option to print the PDF of the order

–Upload a design file

–Send an email of the order to the store owner and the customer

Automate Magento Shopping Cart – Product Import Script

A script for automating product feed import into a Magento shop has been developed recently. Following were the requirements

  • Download and process .txt files from another server(merchant) via FTP. Only latest files have to be picked up via FTP. The files will have a date suffix to help the FTP script to identify which ones are latest.
  • The products have to be assigned to the right categories and sub-categories
  • New products have to be added and existing products have to be updated.

As the .txt files from merchant were not clean we script had to take care of the tidying up aspect as well. The script is in PHP and is scheduled to execute via cron.
